What I've Done in My Dog Training Career

  • I bring forty years of hands-on dog training experience to every client
  • I've spoken publicly to advocate for ethics in the largely unregulated dog training industry
  • I earned my Karen Pryor Academy Certified Training Partner (KPA CTP) designation from the Karen Pryor Academy for Animal Training and Behavior in 2015
  • Over the past 10 years, I've provided training, instruction, and behavior consulting for several local animal welfare organizations
  • I've taught and mentored fellow trainers
  • I'm proud that veterinarians, other trainers, and animal shelters across San Luis Obispo and Santa Barbara County trust me with their referrals

What Matters Most to Me

  • Championing the "Socially Conscious Sheltering" model and today's best practices in animal care

What I Want the Public to Know

  • So many "dog behavior problems" are really just symptoms of unmet mental and physical needs
  • You absolutely can teach a dog to listen without hurting or scaring them
  • Forget the reality TV and YouTube trainers pushing dominance-based methods. Build a relationship with your dog rooted in kindness and mutual respect

What I Enjoy Most About My Job

I love educating the public about dog training and behavior. If I could bottle one feeling, it would be the look on a client's face when their dog does something they never thought possible.
